We are looking for a Data/Application Analyst to join our team!
Closing Date: June 27, 2025
Position Type: 1 year Contract role with possible extension (possible extension to 18 months)
Location: The primary location for this role will be our Newmarket Office at 1101 Nicholson Road, Unit 5. There may also be travel to our other satellite offices located throughout York and South Simcoe. Some evenings and weekends could be required.
Salary: $56,444 - $60,461 per year. *Candidate experience will be considered when determining the starting salary. This salary represents the first 3 steps in a 7-step salary band.
Job Profile:
The Data Application Analyst plays an integral role in the provision of information, analysis and business intelligence and application maintenance/development to support mental health services, planning decisions, and strategy development leading to improved client care.
The incumbent has demonstrated knowledge to work with various sources of data including relational databases, flat files, excel spreadsheets by applying analytical skills to maintain data integrity across various sources/applications, and analyzing and present data in the form of reports and scorecards. The incumbent is a natural problem-solver and enjoys working on a variety of technical and customer applications to improve data capture (CRUD-Create Read Update and Delete), workflow processes and data-sharing. The incumbent will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies will all applicable and regulatory requirements.
DUTIES:
Roles and Responsibilities
- Interact cross-functionally with a variety of teams and executives within CMHA to identify process inefficiencies reporting gaps by researching tools (hardware/software), new processes and reports and provide/implement business recommendations and solutions.
- Become the subject matter expert on CRMS application, the corporate health information system, OMS (document management system) and CRMS reporting.
- Be the subject matter expert on the new BounceBack application and database model.
- Analyze various existing applications to ensure their proper best-practice use and deployment.
- Accountable for our technical knowledge base by documenting clear descriptions of issues and resolutions of IT processes.
- Support users through the ticketing system, Team viewer and face-to-face user interaction.
- Participate in the yearly development, implementation, and evaluation of mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of CMHA.
- Participate in the development, monitoring, and evaluating of the programs and services provided by CMHA, along with other members of the Management Team and staff.
- Develop and implement educational tools and materials to facilitate the use of information as a strategic resource.
Independent Functions
- Functions in accordance with current legislation and adheres to the mission, philosophy, objectives, standards, policies, practices, procedures of the organization.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the position of the Data Application Analyst.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward service providers, relevant third-party stakeholders, and persons of CMHA.
- Adapts effectively to changes in workload, policies and procedures of the organization.
Technical Skills
- Assists in the provision of programs and services provided by CMHA.
- Develops recommendations in consultation with the Senior Director of Information Technology and/or Senior Manager, Information Technology as required.
- Interacts cross-functionally with a variety of teams and executives to identify opportunities and to make business recommendations leveraging analytics techniques and tools.
- Acts as a consultant on issues with respect to reporting and application best practices.
- Identifies information systems needs that are to be used to carry out activities.
- Identifies the right KPls, dashboard to help effectively monitor performance and enable insight discovery.
- Translates complex workflow requirements into cost-effective, user-friendly solutions specific to the program or service.
Communication and Public Relations
- Establishes and maintains open communication with the Senior Director, on relevant issues and exceptional, or precedent-setting issues.
- Establishes a collaborative relationship with managers and staff for input and feedback, on new and existing policies and procedures, and other pertinent issues.
- Facilitates positive and timely group functioning within the organization.
- Represents CMHA externally at meetings and on committees to promote good will and to work toward common goals.
- Educates other health professions, community health and social agencies, and the public regarding the scope of CMHA programs and services.
Professionalism
- Regularly updates professional knowledge through educational events, workshops, and profession related reading and training.
- Represents CMHA York Region in a positive and professional way with internal and external stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in such as Computer Science, Science, Math or related discipline.
Prior Work Experience
- 2+ years of relevant work experience dealing with various applications such as CRM, , and Geographic Information Systems.
- Experience using SQL to query, cleanse, integrate and aggregate data from various sources.
Knowledge
The incumbent must have experience in the following areas:
- CRM, SQL, scripting languages, business intelligence tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI.
- Research skill on application best practices.
- Hardware/Software tools as it impacts workflow.
Skills
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:
- Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Office
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and public relation skills.
- Application best-practices.
- Proficiency using SQL to query, cleanse, integrate and aggregate data from various sources.
- Exceptional technical skills related to working database models.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to display and explain complex analyses in an easily understood user-friendly manner geared to the target audience.
- Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS or R.
Additional Requirements
- A valid Canadian driver's license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance.
- A satisfactory Police Record Check.
WORKING CONDITIONS
(Include physical effort, physical environment, sensory attention, and mental stress)
- Works extensively at a desk using a computer up to 7 hours a day.
- Works in a semiprivate office setting.
- Occasional weekend/evening hours may be required.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
