Job overview

At Evans Hunt, our mission is to create powerful, positive experiences that combine strategy, creative, and technology. As a Senior Developer your role will be to write the bulk of the code behind our projects, breaking down requirements into tangible pieces of work that you turn into real experiences.

Who we are looking for

Your professional or academic experience has given you the ability to work as a developer with empathy and enthusiasm to create meaningful digital experiences. You believe in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to projects and that diverse perspectives lead to stronger work.

If the person below sounds like you, you should definitely apply.

  • You're an expert at some of our technology stacks. You have built JAM/composable web projects with something like NextJS or SvelteKit paired up with Contentful, Sanity or Strapi, and/or done work with traditional LAMP CMSes like Craft, Wordpress and SilverStripe, or dabbled with cloud platform options like Shopify/Squarespace/Webflow.
  • You understand how technologies fit. A developer can't be expert on everything, but if there's technologies you haven't worked with before you can distill them down to familiar paradigms and understand their piece in the implementation puzzle.
  • You build projects from end-to-end. Setting up code repositories, configuring CI/CD pipelines, working with hosting infrastructure like Netlify, Vercel and AWS getting projects developed and launched on to the web is your wheelhouse.
  • You love to grow and to grow others. You've got lots of experience solving crunchy problems and love to work with the rest of the team to help them solve theirs. While you've got go-to solutions you like using for efficiency, you're also excited to learn and leverage new technologies for novel solutions.
  • You're strategic. You know that being a great developer doesn't mean building everything to perfection, it means prioritizing focus areas to deliver maximum value, and cutting through noise to help save time for the entire developer team.

A day in the life

Working at an agency, you'll have the opportunity to work with various clients across a diverse range of industries simultaneously. One day you might be building an animation for a ski destination homepage. Another day you might lead the re-engineering of a website to a new platform. No day is the same.

That said, there are a few activities that will likely take up most of your time. These include:

  • Working with project managers, designers, developers and QA to move projects forward, remove blockers, and reach solutions.
  • Architecting approaches for implementation and generating consensus among developers with informative estimates for delivery.
  • Building projects through to completion by creating new code bases. setting up build tools, writing code and documenting.
  • Evaluating and selecting frameworks, libraries and tools that fit the need of the current build and can provide value in future builds.
  • Sharing your development practices and solutions to mentor others in your technology stacks.
