Senior Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk (Supporting Partner & Head of Real Estate)

Location:Downtown Hamilton, ON

Job Type:Full-Time, In-Office (5 days a week)

Salary:$90,000 - $100,000+ per year (depending on experience)

Start Date:Immediate

Position Overview:

A well-established, boutique law firm in downtown Hamilton is seeking a Senior Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to support their real estate team. This role works closely 1:1 with the partner and the head of the real estate department. The ideal candidate brings a strong commercial real estate background, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex commercial transactions independently and efficiently. This is an urgent hire with immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation and drafting of complex commercial real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, financing documents, and security instruments.
  • Manage and maintain highly detailed real estate files, including closing checklists, correspondence, and supporting documents.
  • Prepare and review title searches, surveys, and conduct thorough due diligence.
  • Coordinate real estate closings and liaise with clients, financial institutions, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients and internal team members, managing expectations and document flow.
  • Prepare documentation for registration of transactions with the Land Registry Office.
  • Conduct legal research and assist the team in resolving complex issues.
  • Manage billing and client accounts following firm procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of commercial real estate law clerk experience, particularly with complex commercial transactions.
  • Confident, independent, and highly organized with an ability to develop and improve internal processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex files simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency with legal software such as PC Law, Primafact, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Mature personality with a collaborative mindset and high level of trustworthiness.
