Why we have this role:

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the operation of the pellet mill in the Grand Valley Fortifiers operations facility. The Pellet Mill Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining pellet mill equipment to produce high-quality pellets in both bulk and bagged packaging. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Working with us:

This is a permanent, full-time position operating out of our facility at 455 Dobbie Drive, Cambridge, Ontario. The regular working hours are Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

What you'll do:

  • Operate pellet mill machinery and automated systems safely and efficiently.
  • Weigh, batch, and process ingredients to ensure accurate product formulation.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain product quality and performance.
  • Load/unload materials and manage inventory using FIFO practices.
  • Label, schedule, and sequence production runs to meet delivery timelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and report equipment or safety issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate production records and adhere to HACCP, CFIA, and safety standards.
  • Work flexibly across all areas of the facility (including computer tasks, packaging, and forklift operation).
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Your background includes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience operating pellet mills or industrial machinery preferred.
  • Agricultural or manufacturing background is an asset.
  • Forklift experience (stand-up and sit-down) required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills; automation or batching software experience is a plus.
  • Physically able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform manual work.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
