Junior Interior Designer (Experienced)

ROLE:
Ste Marie Art + Design is seeking to fill the role of a Junior Interior Designer with an individual who is inspired and motivated to produce well-executed design, and who understands that they will reach a level where they can execute this design through discipline, technical strengths, communication and motivation. This individual should have a strong yearning to learn about their field through the process of inquiry and research, and a potential to translate that learning through to project execution. As a Junior Designer, this individual should have a clear ability to communicate verbally and through technical drawings. A full understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle is critical for individual success and career growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work closely with Associates and Project Leads to execute design presentations and specification schedules. Tasks may include, but not be limited to developing designs, 3D modeling, elevation renderings, mood board creation, specifications, CAD drawings, image research, materials and furniture sourcing, and presentation assembly, while following Ste Marie standards and processes.
- Where required, assume responsibility for complete design of designated portions of the project as directed by the Associate and/or Project Lead.
- Create accurate & complete Specifications and Schedules.
- Coordinate samples with internal teams, clients, and product reps. Order samples, assemble sample boxes, and coordinate grunge boards.
- Under supervision, create accurate & complete construction drawing sets.
- Review drawings sets for multi-family suites.
- Support the execution of contract administration, including the creation of Site Instructions and Submittal reviews.
- Understand and follow strict internal procedures regarding drawing standards, document creation and issuance, and time tracking.
- Support FF+E specification and styling, including but not limited to sourcing, in-store shopping, and on-site styling and installation.
- Stay on task and effectively manage time in order to work independently on projects as assigned, maintaining a 40 hour work week to eliminate any need for overtime.
- Openly communicate workload and support needs within the Studio setting.
- Professional, client service-oriented and positive representation of the Studio, fostering and cultivating good client, vendor, and collaborator relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2+ years professional experience in Interior Design, with experience in Multi-Residential and/or Hospitality design.
- Excellent written and spoken English language communication skills.
- Completion of a certified Interior Design, Building Technology or Architectural program at a professionally recognized institution.
- Proficient in AutoCAD..
- Proficient in Sketchup.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Experience in Enscape is considered an asset.
- Experience in Fohlio is considered an asset.
- Experience in Revit is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of residential kitchen and bath design.
- Good understanding of technical detailing, and understanding of millwork joinery practices.
- Ability to read, understand and translate technical drawings, and create accurate & complete Specifications and Schedules.
- Drivers license is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- A quick learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to collaborate within a team setting & to take direction from fellow team members.
- Creatively and technically inclined, demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
- Passionate about design and motivated to execute compelling and thoughtful projects.
- A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent, lifelong learning.
