CNC OPERATOR - PLASMA TABLE (EVENING SHIFT)
A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precise parts and components according to engineering blueprints and specifications.
Reporting to: Shop Foreman
Duties
- Set up CNC machines based on specifications provided in blueprints, drawings, or computer-aided design (CAD) files.
- Write or load CNC programs into the machine controller, dictating specific movements and operations the machine will perform.
- Load raw materials into the CNC machine, ensuring they are securely fastened and aligned properly.
- Run CNC machines to perform cutting, shaping, drilling, or other machining operations according to the programmed instructions.
- Monitor the machining process to ensure parts are produced to the required specifications and quality standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements to optimize production output and reduce waste.
- Adhoc duties as requested by manager.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with a CNC machine or in a manufacturing setting is an asset.
- Able to read and understand design drawings using CNC software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Committed to safety standards and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Strong attention to detail; quality-oriented individual.
- Works well in a team environment; communicates with team and manager effectively.
- Successful candidate must be able to stand at work for long periods of time and be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs when necessary.
