Doping Control Officer Level 1 (AB) /Agents de contrle du dopage NIVEAU 1 (AB)

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is seeking individuals to fill the employment opportunity ofDoping Control Officer (DCO) Level 1on apart-timecasual employment basisin or near the city ofCalgary, Alberta. DCO work is assignment-based and dependent on organizational needs in a particular region.

The CCES works collaboratively to ensure Canadians have a positive sport experience. Through its programs, the CCES manages unethical issues in sport, protects the integrity of Canadian sport, and promotes True Sport to activate values-based sport on and off the field of play. The CCES is an independent, national, not-for profit organization that is responsible for the administration of the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP).

Under the Supervisor, Sample Collection Personnel, a DCO is key in implementing the CADP, is the face of the CCES at sporting events and is the first point of contact for athletes going through doping control. This role is responsible for conducting urine and blood sample collection sessions which take place both in-competition (events) and out-of-competition (training and home visits).

DCOs are trained by the CCES in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) International Standard for Testing and Investigations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Doping Control Officer - LEVEL 1

Ideal candidates have completed post-secondary education and/or have experience in physiotherapy, athletic therapy, physical education, law enforcement, healthcare and medical services, education or other similar fields. They are self-starters, possess strong communication skills, are flexible to changing needs, are diligent in following technical procedures and are able to demonstrate effective leadership skills to ensure the goals of the CCES are achieved.

  • Effectively evaluate situations and exercise good judgment;
  • Follow a defined set of protocols and procedures;
  • Work in a high pressure, constantly changing environment;
  • Work with athletes of all levels, including Olympic, Paralympic and professional athletes;
  • Recruit volunteer doping control chaperones as needed;
  • Maintain information in a discreet and confidential manner.

POSITION DETAILS

Purpose:

  • To collect and assist with urine and blood sample collection sessions for in-competition and out-of-competition testing missions;
  • To lead Level 1 doping control missions in accordance with the CADP as required;
  • To provide leadership, training and evaluation to Chaperones as required.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Have a computer with internet access and a cell phone;
  • Possess a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle;
  • Be willing and able to travel;
  • Maintain certification through training mechanisms provided by the CCES;
  • Adhere to the rules of the CADP;
  • Successfully go through the steps of the CCES screening policy including a criminal records check;
  • Be willing to witness passing of a urine sample by athletes of the same gender as the DCO

Availability:

DCOs must be available to complete up to five assignments per month but could be asked to complete up to 15 in peak periods. Assignment duration typically ranges between a few hours to a full workday. Hours of work are variable and will include early weekday mornings, evenings and weekends.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Education: High school diploma and/or post-secondary education or equivalent combinationof education and experience in a relevant position.

Language Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required and similar

French language skills are preferred.

Leadership Skills:Professional conduct, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, flexibility to accept missions with little or no notice, ability to give/receive feedback.

Project Skills: Organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, ability to follow procedures, time management skills, ability to work in a team environment.

Computer Skills:Reasonable ability to use email, the Internet, MS Word and Excel.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Sport knowledge/experience;
  • Previous anti-doping experience;
  • Flexible schedule.

Compensation: Hourly rate ($18 an hour) plus expenses

Les agents de contrle du dopage sont appels raliser des mandats de faon ponctuelle selon les besoins organisationnels dans une rgion donne.

Le CCES est lorganisme national indpendant et but non lucratif responsable de ladministration du Programme canadien antidopage (PCA). Nous reconnaissons que le sport sain peut faire une grande diffrence pour les individus, les collectivits et notre pays. Nous avons pris lengagement de travailler de faon collaborative en vue dactiver un systme sportif ax sur des valeurs et des principes, de protger lintgrit du sport des forces ngatives du dopage et dautres menaces non thiques, et de dfendre le sport juste, scuritaire et ouvert tous.

Sous la supervision du gestionnaire du personnel et des procdures de prlvement des chantillons, lACD joue un rle cl dans la mise en uvre du PCA: il reprsente le CCES lors dpreuves sportives et est le premier point de contact des athltes soumis un contrle du dopage. Il doit mener des sances de prlvement dchantillons durine et de sang en comptition (lors des preuves) et hors comptition ( lentranement et au domicile de lathlte).

Les ACD sont forms par le CCES conformment au Standard international pour les contrles et les enqutes de lAgence mondiale antidopage (AMA).

Agent de contrle du dopage NIVEAU1

Le candidat idal possde un diplme dtudes postsecondaires ou de lexprience dans les domaines de la physiothrapie, de la thrapie du sport, de lducation physique, de lapplication de la loi, de la sant et des services mdicaux, de lducation, ou tout autre domaine similaire. Il sagit dune personne entreprenante qui possde dexcellentes aptitudes en communication, sadapte bien aux besoins changeants, respecte rigoureusement les procdures techniques et est capable de faire preuve de leadership pour assurer latteinte des objectifs du CCES.
