Job Title: Core Logging Geologist

Reporting directly to the Exploration Manager, the Core Logging Geologist will play a key role in conducting geotechnical logging of core from diamond drilling and lithological logging of cuttings from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the company's exploration properties located in the Golden Triangle region of northwestern British Columbia.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on field experience in precious and base metal exploration, with a solid background in supporting diamond drilling programs.

This is a seasonal contract position, expected to last up to 4 months, depending on operational demands and the scope of the drill program. The anticipated start date is late June 2025.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Drill Program Support

  • Work with Skeena's technical team on two consecutive drilling programs, including but not limited to monitoring drill progress, core logging (lithology, bedrock fracture intensity and infilling), and implementing relevant workflows and procedures (e.g., QA/QC).

Geological Analysis

  • Contribute to geological interpretations and 3D modelling.

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare daily reports on drill progress.

  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and report all material results in a timely manner.

Health and Safety

  • Promote a safety leadership culture by ensuring adherence to Skeena's health and safety policies.

  • Actively identify health and safety hazards, resolve issues, and work to mitigate associated risks.

Inventory and Logistics

  • Monitor and maintain sampling supplies inventory.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Ideal CandidateEducation / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
  • Registered or able to register in a GIT program with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
Experience / Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role with exposure to operations within the mining industry
  • Practical field experience with drilling and core/RC logging techniques
  • The candidate should demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision at the drill site
  • Excellent interpersonal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort
  • Excellent English communication skills, both orally and written and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.), GIS programs (QGIS or ArcGIS); experience with Leapfrog Geo and GeoSpark considered an asset
  • Knowledge and practical experience working with VMS, epithermal and porphyry mineral systems considered an asset
  • Adaptable to an ever changing high-demand work environment, with the ability to work in remote or challenging physical environments, including lifting and moving core boxes/sample bags and hiking in undeveloped terrain with gear
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule and live onsite in a camp environment for extended periods of time
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
Work Location & ConditionsThis is a site-based camp job. This position involves working at a remote site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects. All Applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada. Priority hiring consideration will be given to Indigenous Nations members who reside within the territories our projects are located.CompensationThe expected hourly range for this position is CA$35/h - CA$45/h, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia.
