About the Role
Reporting to a senior member of the finance team, the General Accountant will play a key role in supporting core accounting functions and maintaining accurate financial records. The successful candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, account reconciliations, and supporting audit and compliance activities.
What You'll Do
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and assist with financial reporting
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements and documentation
- Ensure proper documentation and classification of revenues and expenses
- Support budget tracking and variance analysis for various departments
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely processing of financial data
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in a general accounting or similar role
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and GAAP principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in a non-profit or arts/cultural organization is an asset
