Who we need

Reporting to the Director of Finance, we are hiring a Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role in strengthening our financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making. You will take ownership of core accounting processes, oversee month-end and year-end close, and lead the preparation of accurate financial statements. You will collaborate across departments, drive process improvements, and contribute to multiple yearly audits. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior role on a lean and agile team where your work will have visibility and influence. You will work on complex reconciliations, audit preparation, and compliance while mentoring junior staff and helping shape how we work.

This is a full-time, remote role with the option to work from our location at 45 Progress Road.

Whats in it for you

Influence. As part of a lean and effective FP&A team within a global organization, you will work within a team focused on both the day-to-day operations and broader business strategy. This is a role where your voice matters. You will have the opportunity to optimize financial processes, strengthen controls, and contribute insights that directly support smarter, data-driven decision-making.

Exposure. You will achieve a rewarding work-life balance while gaining exposure to all of our financial transactions across the whole balance sheet P&L. You will work across the Finance department and the company, responding to ad hoc requests, producing reports for external auditors, and supporting junior accountants.

Career growth. You want to deepen your expertise and impact working on a single internal client versus jumping from project to project as an external auditor. This is your opportunity to develop leadership skills, build business acumen, and advance into a managerial role.

As our new Senior Financial Accountant, you will focus on:

  • Financial reporting and analysis. You will lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies. You will conduct financial analysis to support management decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Month-end and year-end close.
You will oversee close procedures and ensure timely, accurate reporting. You will perform and review bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations. You will prepare and review journal entries, including amortization, depreciation, payroll, and accruals. You will maintain and validate roll-forward schedules for key Balance Sheet accounts and examine system data and reports for accuracy, resolving discrepancies and supporting the financial close.
  • Process improvement and compliance. You will identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen financial reporting and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency. You will ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
  • Mentorship and development. You will guide and support junior accountants, reviewing their work, answering questions, and helping them grow in their roles. You will foster a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
  • Stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate across departments to provide financial insight and business support. You will assist the Director of Finance with special projects and communicate results and risks to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Audits. You will act as a primary contact for auditors, prepare documentation and schedules, and ensure readiness for financial and tax audits.
  • CapEx and tax support. You will manage and reconcile CapEx requisitions and asset classifications and support the timely compilation and filing of sales tax returns.

What you bring:

  • The education and experience.
You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and are a CPA or have passed your final exam (CFE). You may be coming from a large auditing firm. You have progressive experience in full-cycle financial accounting, including close cycles, audits, and analysis. You are confident undertaking complex accounting research and resolving reconciliation issues.
  • The technical skills.
You are highly proficient in Excel and accounting software. You may have worked with Sage and other ERP systems, or you can quickly come up to speed. You are comfortable navigating and implementing changes to financial processes.
  • The interpersonal skills. You are clear, concise, and professional in your written and verbal communication. You can explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and foster strong cross-functional relationships. You have the patience and willingness to support the work of junior staff and enjoy being a resource for others.

What you can expect from the interview process:

  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role, the teams culture and how you will make an impact.
  • An Excel assessment.
  • A virtual interview with the Director, Financial Accounting and Financial Account Manager, during which you will have a chance to share your financial knowledge and work experience and answer technical questions.
  • A virtual interview with the CFO to ask and answer questions about your interest in the role and the company.
