Native Shoes is a hybrid organization with the head office located in Railtown in Vancouver, BC. This job will require the ability to work from the head office a minimum of two days per week,as well as ability to work within PST operating hours.

Who is Native looking for?
Reporting to the Director of Finance, youll play a key leadership role in elevating our foundational accounting practices. You will mentor and coach a high performing team, lead cross-functional financial initiatives, and help streamline our operations through process improvements and digital tools.
In addition, this role also works closely with Logistics, Planning, Sales Operations, and other cross functional departments on projects such as
inventory management, sales tax strategy and compliance, budgeting/forecasting, board reporting, ad-hoc requests. As a developing leader, you bring to the table best practices in technical and operational accounting and take pride in your ability to challenge the status quo and also inspire the team to do the same.
What would I be responsible for?
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team of 3 direct reports.
- Review team deliverables and provide ongoing support and mentorship for your team ensuring accuracy,
accountability and excellence in execution
- Oversee the preparation and
delivery of
accurate monthly and annual financial statements and bank reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements, particularly in leveraging AI and digital tools to optimize workflows, reporting, and forecasting.
- Manage the year-end audit by leading the internal team and liaising with and providing support to external auditors
- Review and prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
with variance analysisand commentary
- Lead annual budget
process in collaboration with senior management, department heads and the accounting team
- Research and interpret Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and prepare memos on accounting treatment
as needed
- Maintain cashflow forecast and prepare drawdown notices based on cash needs
- Lead the payroll process in partnership with the People team, including but not limited to, reviewing bi-weekly payroll, EHT filings, and WorkSafe filings
- Participate in ad-hoc projects as required by management
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) in good standing
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including
managing direct reports
- Experience with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with both internal and external reporting
- Experience with foreign exchange and intercompany transactions
- Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Advanced Excel and Word skills with practical application
Compensation
This role is expected to be compensated between $90,000 - $100,000
base salary, depending on experience and job-related qualifications.
