Position Overview

We're looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer who is self-directed, dynamic, and deeply curious about how things work. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in mechatronics or related disciplines, thrives on building and testing, and relies on a mix of engineering principles and intuition to make smart, fast discoveries.

This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge electric drive systems, collaborating across hardware, firmware, and mechanical teams to bring innovative designs to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test mechatronic systems for electric drive solutions
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components into cohesive systems
  • Collaborate on prototyping and troubleshooting motor controllers, sensors, and related subsystems
  • Perform system-level testing, validation, and data analysis
  • Work closely with the electrical engineering team on circuit design and layout (experience creating schematics and printed circuit board layout is a strong asset)
  • Provide hands-on support during builds, test setups, and iterative development cycles (experience using machine tools is a strong asset)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of system performance, manufacturability, and reliability

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or a related field
  • Strong hands-on engineering skills comfortable with tools, test equipment, prototyping, and debugging
  • Demonstrated self-direction and ability to take initiative in fluid work environments
  • Curiosity-driven mindset with a passion for understanding how systems work
  • Excellent problem-solving skills across a broad range of disciplines
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Preferred/Assets:

  • Experience with electronics hardware, schematics, and PCB layout
  • Familiarity with electric motors, motor controllers, or embedded systems
  • Exposure to control systems, embedded firmware, and sensor interfacing
  • Experience in automotive, robotics, or clean tech industries
