What You'll Do
- Prepare complex personal, corporate, trust, partnership, and HST tax returns.
- Handle the preparation of various tax reporting slips and election forms.
- Assist with tax planning projects and engage with clients to address their tax needs.
- Communicate with tax authorities regarding client tax issues and resolutions.
- Contribute to miscellaneous tax projects, conducting research on tax issues for personal and corporate clients.
- Assist clients during income tax audits with various tax authorities.
- Provide regular updates and communicate effectively with managers and partners regarding progress and issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, developments, and decisions from tax authorities to strengthen technical expertise.
- Mentor and guide co-op students and junior staff, assisting with their professional development.
- CPA designation (or close to obtaining it—must have passed the CFE).
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- A commitment to pursuing or currently enrolled in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
- At least 3 years of Canadian tax experience within a public accounting firm.
- Familiarity with TaxPrep and CaseWare software is an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A strong desire to learn, research, and apply new tax knowledge.
- A superior work ethic and problem-solving abilities.
