Position Summary
The Compensation Specialist works closely with the HR Manager and COO to ensure:
- Accurate and timely processing of compensation and payroll data
- Compliance with compensation-related regulations
- Effective support for the development of compensation strategies
- Prompt responses to employee payroll and benefits inquiries
- Administrative assistance for performance reviews and salary adjustments
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and enter payroll transactions in accordance with payroll deadlines.
- Balance payroll entries and assist in audit preparations.
- Recommend and implement best practices for payroll procedures.
- Maintain and update employee records (attendance, leave, overtime).
- Produce payroll reports, submit pension contributions, resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to pay-related inquiries and manage letters, deductions, and taxable benefits.
- Manage group benefit enrollments, terminations, and dependent processes.
- Oversee extended leaves and return-to-work plans.
- Support year-end payroll reconciliation, including T4s and T2200s.
- Administer staff benefit plans including pension, RRSP, and Work Safe BC.
- Assist with onboarding and background checks.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Payroll, HR, Business, or related field
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent certification (asset)
- 1–2 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience
- Experience with Dayforce (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and benefits requirements
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and payroll systems
- High integrity and professionalism when handling confidential data
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
Work Environment
- Hybrid workplace, enabling both office time and work from home.
- Attend the Toronto work office as needed in accordance with company policy.
