FINANCE ANALYST, PROGRAMS
INVEST OTTAWA -OPERATIONS
Reporting directly to the Manager, Finance and Program Funding, the Finance Analyst, Programs will perform a variety of accounting and analytical functions. Focusing on program reporting, the role will ensure that expenses are appropriately categorized under each program, revenue is recognized in line with program rules, and program management team is supported with appropriate accounting data in order to report to funders and forecast spending.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Project Accounting
- Prepare salary allocation schedule and record transaction monthly
- Create project adjusting entries as required through a period
- Prepare revenue recognition schedule and record transaction monthly
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to projects, including but not limited to Project Receivables, Project Deferred Revenue, and Collaborator advances
- Provide program management team with supporting documentation required for claims submitted to funders
- Project Analysis
- Review individual project reporting to ensure data integrity with the accounting system, including that expenses are appropriately categorized under each project
- Other tasks
- Work closely with accounts payable and accounts receivable team members to communicate coding appropriate to project transactions
- Prepare fixed assets and revenue recognition schedules monthly
- Support program teams with PO adjustments/creations
- Provide support during internal & external audits
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
- Undergraduate degree in business administration or finance, or a combination of equivalent work experience and educational background
- 3+ years experience working in project accounting
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
- Familiarity with accounting systems that use projects or multiple financial dimensions
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles including accounting controls;
- Team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues and quickly integrate into the organization;
- Ability to review and analyze large data sets and formulate recommendations
- Proven ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy
- Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central
- Ability to prioritize and organize work
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
