Salary:

The Buyer supports day-to-day procurement activities by executing routine purchasing tasks, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. This role works closely with the Procurement team to support sourcing strategies and commodity management efforts, while also collaborating with departments such as manufacturing, planning, and logistics to ensure materials meet quality standards, cost targets, and scheduling needs.

Responsibilities:

MRP & Purchasing:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a schedule for running MRP (Recommended Reorder) processes.
  • Execute MRP runs as scheduled, generating purchase orders (POs) for stock items.
  • Submit POs for stock, work orders, and sales order demand for approval and send to suppliers.
  • Follow up with suppliers to confirm order receipt and update the ERP system accordingly.
  • Monitor and follow up on past-due or unconfirmed POs.

Supplier & Cost Management:

  • Send Requests for Quotes (RFQs) to suppliers and maintain accurate cost records in the ERP system.
  • Source materials, components, and hardware based on internal demand and requisitions.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with vendors, under guidance, to ensure best value.
  • Help track and manage the age and validity of supplier pricing.
  • Request updated supplier information (e.g., contact details, price lists) and enter into ERP.

Inventory Accuracy & Data Management:

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with cycle counts and stock adjustments.
  • Research and maintain accurate product data, including tariff codes, cut sheets, and product images in the ERP system.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and report on procurement-related KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, supplier lead times).
  • Assist in evaluating supplier performance and resolving quality or delivery issues.

Coss-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Support:

  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments (e.g., production, design, service).
  • Provide responsive customer service to internal stakeholders regarding order status, delivery timelines, and material availability.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities required)

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain support role; experience in a technical, manufacturing, or construction environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is required; experience with Genius ERP is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain operations and vendor management.
  • Working knowledge of ERP or procurement systems; ability to maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Data analysis and problem solving.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a willingness to learn and develop negotiation capabilities.
