JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to an established project schedule with strict time deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors, vendors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The Project Manager relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals established by the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities.

Other duties may be assigned. The task list below is intended to be descriptive and not restrictive:

  • Create Project schedules and forecasts
  • Process project orders from order intake to successful start-up
  • Responsible for manufacturing procurement and purchase orders working locally in Canada and with our Manufacturing facility in Germany
  • Coordination and checking of all deliverables
  • Maintain project status reports and change orders as necessary
  • Manage project budget
  • Measure, analyze, and present performance metrics of completed projects
  • Direct and manage project planning and execution from start to finish with input as needed from cross functional team members in Canada and Germany
  • Define project scope in relation to contract requirements, scope, milestones, vendor data & documentation, testing, certifications, approval/final drawings and all deliverables that support customer order requirements aligned with HUBER TECHNOLOGY vision and mission statements
  • Develop engineering submittal packages to customers and reviewing engineering returned drawings in a timely manner
  • Proactively manage the engineering submittal process to obtain customer approval for release to production in a timely manner according to cash flow and project contact requirements
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to HUBER TECHNOLOGY team members and customer stakeholders in a timely & clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Estimate the materials, labor, and resources needed to achieve project goals
  • Create or direct the creation of purchase orders to procure equipment, parts or components
  • Recommend budget changes where necessary, draft change orders and submit for approval as required by current company policy
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Obtain from the customer a confirming written change order for any significant change in project scope
  • Determine 3rd party vendors or team support required to successfully complete the project
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel as needed to complete the project
  • Identify and resolve issues to complete any open action items to reach project close out in a timely fashion
  • Be a resource to help determine warranty situations, provide information to Field Service, and work order details as needed
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
  • Plan and schedule timelines and milestones using appropriate project management tools
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations as required internally and externally
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved cross functional internal team members throughout project life cycle
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Conduct completed project analyses and create a recommendations report that identifies successful and unsuccessful project elements and implement continuous improvements
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Prepare and submit written quarterly status reports for all projects and any other reporting required by the Managing Director or Manufacturing Facility in Germany
  • Flex responsibilities based on workload to pivot to Application Engineering support as needed

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory duties of staff; however, supervision of projects is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting,

however, there could be exposure to warehouse / inventory equipment. Potential for exposure to undesirable field elements at Water & Wastewater Treatment or Industrial plant, or contractor's/consultants' site if a project requires a site-visit for project kick-off or follow-up.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

  • While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Sitting will be for extended periods of time
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 kgs
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus
  • Project Manager should be capable of working under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Regular attendance is essential to meet the project deadlines and to provide consistent, quality customer service to our internal cross functional teams and external customers
  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to and from a client's office, production facility, tradeshow, construction jobsite or Water or Wastewater Treatment or Industrial plant. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply
  • Safety first mind-set must adhere and follow all company policies and government law requirements on safety either on a jobsite or at an office.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a Full-Time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 8-5 or an approved flex schedule related to the needs of the role.

TRAVEL

Some travel to fulfill the duties of the role, if commercial and/or technical issues require a visit to customer site or for training, and/or tradeshow attendance as required

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline, required
  • A minimum of 3 years' work experience in application engineering, inside sales or other relevant technical support preferred
  • Experience working with independent manufacturer's representatives and or vendors preferred
  • Exposure to sales, sales management and/or project management preferred
  • Water & Wastewater industry or Industrial experience a plus
  • Project Management experience or Certification a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficient computer skills - and with all MS-Office suite applications and use of a CRM
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements and technical specifications/details on drawings and documentation
  • Familiarity with project management software tools
  • Fluent spoken and written English required - French ability a plus
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
