Term of App't: Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week (until January 23, 2026)

Start date: August 25, 2025

Reporting to: Dean of Trades & Apprenticeships


Salary:

$47.83 - 56.75/hour depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

Description:


Northern Lights College is seeking an individual who is eager to share their knowledge and experience with our Heavy Duty Trades Foundation students.

The successful candidate will be tasked with preparing and instructing the program which provides training in all aspects of the Heavy-Duty Technician Foundation program. We adhere to the Skilled Trades B.C. curriculum guidelines for the Heavy Mechanical trades in the province of BC which prepares the apprentices for the Interprovincial Red Seal examinations at the end of their training.

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic certification, and apprenticeship certificate.
  • A minimum of five year's related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work and contribute positively to the College environment are essential.
  • A supportive attitude to students and student success is expected.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience.
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) certification or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a willingness to obtain.
