About Us:
Franvest Capital Partners is an Edmonton-based private equity firm investing in privately held companies, with a focus on franchising and real estate development. Franvests portfolio includes Orangetheory Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City, The Bar Method, and The Dog Stop, as well as real estate investments in Alberta and the US. Applicants with an interest in private equity, franchising, and/or mergers and acquisitions will be preferred.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual to join our firm as an Administrative Assistant/Research Analyst. This is a unique, career-track opportunity designed for a recent business graduate who aspires to advance into an investment associate role. The successful candidate will initially provide both administrative and research support to the CEO and Directors, gaining high-level exposure to investment strategy, deal flow, and portfolio management. Over time, and with demonstrated performance, the role will transition into a full-time Associate position.
Key Responsibilities (Phase 1: Administrative Assistant/Research Analyst):
  • Provide direct administrative support to the CEO, including calendar management, travel coordination, meeting logistics, professional correspondence, and other administrative duties.
  • Prepare presentation materials, coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and manage follow-ups.
  • Assist in organizing investment committee meetings, strategic planning sessions, and portfolio reviews.
  • Evaluate and implement productivity and workflow tools to enhance CEO and firm efficiency.
  • Conduct preliminary research on industry trends, target companies, and market opportunities to support the CEO and Directors in decision-making.
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of data relevant to potential investments and current portfolio companies.
  • Begin participating in early-stage deal flow and due diligence activities alongside the CEO.
Key Responsibilities (Phase 2: Transition to Associate):
  • Lead in-depth financial, market, and competitive research to support sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for valuations, acquisitions, and performance tracking.
  • Prepare comprehensive research reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of software solutions for portfolio companies, including ERP, CRM, scheduling, and analytics platforms.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve research efficiency, operational reporting, and investment analysis.
  • Support deal execution, due diligence, and ongoing portfolio company performance tracking.
Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, ideally with additional coursework or experience in Information Technology or Data Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; previous internship or full-time experience in finance, consulting, or tech-enabled businesses is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting business or market research, including gathering and synthesizing data from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, implement, or support business software solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with AI tools, data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), or coding (e.g., Python, SQL) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, high personal integrity, and a genuine interest in private equity and business building.
Why Join Us:
This is a rare opportunity to work directly with the CEO and senior leadership of a private equity firm and build a long-term career. The role offers early exposure to deals, strategy, and portfolio operations, with a built-in progression to Associate responsibilities for the right candidate. Youll gain practical experience at the intersection of finance, operations, and technology, and develop advanced research and analytical skills.
