In this role, you will report to the Regional Vice-President, and your main responsibility will be to oversee the underwriters assigned to your team. You will ensure that your team meets the companys service standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and manage the team, ensuring efficient task distribution
- Ensure compliance with service levels and perform quality control of transactions with operational oversight
- Track performance objectives (KPIs) and manage the annual evaluation process
- Active management of Sales/Opportunity Pipeline
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers and manage any issues that may arise
- Collaborate with other team leaders and management to improve processes and achieve common goals
- Participate in the onboarding of new employees with the HR team
Profile
- 5+ years of team management experience in the insurance industry
- 35 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting
- University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership, initiative, and team spirit
- Comfortable with change management and adopting new tools
- Experience in budget management
- Skilled in delivering direct feedback and managing sensitive conversations
- Client-focused, with a human and adaptable approach
