DUTIES:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Long Term Care/Administrator, the position will manage and maintain effective operation of the Nutrition and Dietary Services Department of Huron Lodge, ensuring safe, high-quality services and nutritious meals that meet the nutrition care needs of the residents. On call responsibilities as required. Oversee the administration, strategic leadership, and overall quality of the Nutrition and Dietary Services within the home, while maintaining compliance with all legislative requirements and promoting a positive, enjoyable dining experience for residents. Lead and assess all aspects of the Nutrition and Dietary Services Department, including dietetic care, meal services delivery, and quality improvement under the direction of the Executive Director of Long Term Care/Administrator in alignment with the Ministry of Long Term Care Acts and Regulations. Implement continuous quality improvement strategies to enhance processes, food production and adapt to evolving services and dietary requirements in alignment with legislative standards. Participate in regulatory inspections, implement corrective actions as needed, and actively seek feedback to enhance departmental practices. Facilitate accurate record-keeping in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Act as a management representative on the Health and Safety Committee. Support Resident and Family Council as required by the Long Term Care Legislation. Responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, performance appraisals and discipline of the department staff. Will perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a University degree or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency in Food Service Management or similar area of study, combined with a minimum of 6 years progressively responsible supervisory/managerial experience in dietary services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care environment.
- OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma and a Community College Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency in Food Service Management or similar area of study; combined with more than 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory/managerial experience in dietary services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care environment.
- Must be a member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or a member of the Ontario College of Dietitians;
- Must have experience in a long-term care or senior living environment;
- Must have labour relations experience.
- Must have a good attendance record unless otherwise resulting from a recognized handicap as outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code, Part II, Section 10(1), Subsections (a) to (e)
- Successful completion of any gerontological course deemed an asset.
- Proven commitment to ongoing education, training and professional development will be considered an asset.
- Management experience in a unionized facility-based kitchen will be deemed an asset.
