The Position:

The Assistant Controller is a vital member of the Finance leadership team, responsible for ensuring the integrity and clarity of the organizations financial data. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who can partner across departments to support decision-making and drive business insights. Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Assistant Controller will be involved in financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and a drive to improve processes and efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements for business units.
- Apply standard accounting principles to record transactions and develop reliable financial reports.
- Conduct P&L analysis to identify performance drivers and communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Manage payment processes for business partners and oversee daily cash operations.
- Lead and mentor the Accounts Payable team, fostering growth and ensuring smooth operations.
- Support external audit processes and ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls to minimize risk and ensure data integrity.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives through automation, standardization, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Finance Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, including supervisory or leadership roles.
- Proven ability to work with financial systems and tools to support reporting and business analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with driving and implementing process optimization and financial controls.
