KIT Recruitment is working with a leading food manufacturing company to find skilled Maintenance Technicians/Millwrights for their meat processing facility in Etobicoke. You'll be part of a well-established maintenance crew. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, with previous experience in food processing—preferably in meat production.
Maintenance Technician / Millwright – Role Details:
- Hourly Rate: $38–$40/hour
- Up to $44/hr for licensed 433A Millwright.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm (Overtime after 40 hours/week)
- Vacation: 2 weeks annually
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package after probation
- Retirement Savings: RRSP matching at 3% after 1 year
Maintenance Technician / Millwright – Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Keep accurate logs of repairs, part usage, and equipment modifications.
- Assist with machinery changeovers and layout adjustments as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance area.
- Read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and work orders.
- Perform plumbing, carpentry, and general facility maintenance as required.
- Work collaboratively with production, QA, and leadership teams to ensure equipment readiness.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Use hand and power tools, diagnostic instruments, and material handling equipment safely.
Maintenance Technician / Millwright – Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; mechanical trade certification preferred.
- 433A an asset but not required.
- 2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing maintenance—meat processing background is a strong asset.
- Familiar with high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
- Solid electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to read schematics.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety standards.
- Physically fit; able to lift up to 23 kg.
- Comfortable working in cold environments (between -1°C and +4°C).
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling when overtime is needed.
