OVERVIEW
The Analyst Western Programs supports the financial and performance analysis functions for Circular Materials Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs and Material Stewardship Agreement (MSA) clients. Reporting to the Director, Western Program, the Analyst will assist with data collection, analysis, financial modeling, and reporting to help inform decisions and ensure the operational success of EPR programs.
This position is ideal for candidates with a solid foundation in financial analysis and data management, who are eager to grow their analytical skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. The Analyst will work under direction to support key business processes and provide accurate and timely reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial & Operational Analysis Support
- Model Maintenance Assistance: Support the development and upkeep of financial and operational models to aid in planning, budgeting, and cost allocation activities.
- Cost Tracking: Assist in monitoring program costs and revenues by gathering and analyzing financial data related to collection, processing, and administration.
- Scenario Support: Contribute to scenario-based analysis, including reviewing assumptions and preparing data inputs under supervision.
- Budget Support: Assist in preparing forecasts and budget tracking tools to support the financial sustainability of programs.
- Fee Setting Assistance: Provide data and preliminary analysis to support the annual fee-setting process.
Performance Reporting & Data Management
- Data Preparation: Compile and clean datasets from internal sources to support regular reporting needs.
- Report Generation: Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports including cost summaries, KPI reports, and variance analyses under guidance.
- Data Validation: Conduct data checks to support data integrity across financial and operational systems.
- KPI Monitoring Support: Assist in tracking performance indicators, identifying anomalies, and summarizing key trends.
Process Support & Documentation
- Improvement Identification: Support process mapping and suggest improvements to reporting or data workflows with mentorship.
- Documentation: Assist with documenting procedures and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as part of knowledge-sharing efforts.
Project and Research Support
- Analytical Contributions: Participate in assigned analytical workstreams on strategic projects, under the direction of senior team members.
- Support Circular Economy Initiatives: Provide data support and research to help inform project initiatives aligned with circular economy goals.
- Industry Research: Conduct basic research on trends and summarize findings to inform broader project work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Data Science, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or Engineering.
Experience
- 23 Years of experience in a financial, business, or data analysis role.
- Experience with financial modeling and reporting in Excel.
- Exposure to business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, SAP) is an asset.
Technical and Analytical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of financial and operational data analysis.
- Familiarity with large datasets and basic statistical methods is an asset.
- Interest in process automation and improving data workflows.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.
- Flexible working hours with different peak seasons.
- Some overtime required periodically.
