Job Title: Pl-SQL Data Developer

Location: Calgary, AB

Type: Contract - T4 & INC (6 months, possibility of extension)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

Work Setup: Fully On-site (no remote or hybrid options)

Job Summary

Airswift is currently seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to support a major client in the energy sector. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong Informatica PowerCenter and Oracle PL/SQL expertise, who thrive in a fully on-premise, non-cloud environment.

The role will involve supporting new project development, ongoing operational data support, and production troubleshooting within a highly data-driven team.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Integration

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Informatica PowerCenter.
  • Write and optimize Oracle PL/SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Support data replication and real-time integration using tools like HVR (training available if needed).
  • Perform manual data import/export, scripting, and operational support across staging environments.

Operational & Production Support

  • Troubleshoot production incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and maintain performance of data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between development and production following structured release processes.

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Document data workflows, maintenance tasks, and solution architecture.
  • Work closely with analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to meet data needs.
  • Participate in an after-hours support rotation as required by the team.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Informatica PowerCenter development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL (advanced query writing and performance tuning).
  • Strong experience with manual data operations, including scripting and job orchestration.
  • Familiarity with managing data in non-cloud, on-premise environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) tools such as HVR or PowerExchange.
  • Exposure to SQL Server and common data file formats (CSV, XML, JSON, Excel).
  • Understanding of manual deployment/versioning workflows instead of automated CI/CD tools.
  • Previous experience in a DBA-style support role is a plus.

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Able to independently ramp up and contribute with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear communication skills for working with technical and business teams.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, operational support environments.

Work Environment

  • 100% on-site in Calgary (no remote or hybrid).
  • Work is fully within an on-prem infrastructure—cloud experience is not required.
  • Candidate must be open to rotational after-hours support responsibilities.
