Position Overview:

As a Recreational Volunteer Facilitator, you will lead weekly activities to provide opportunities to reduce isolation, build relationships, and restore confidence in the Community Connection drop-in program groups.

We are looking for volunteers to facilitate the following group sessions:

Aurora Location:

  • Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Markham Location

  • Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

*Applicants are welcome to volunteer for more than one session. Please be sure to indicate your availability when answering the screening questions during the application process.

Key Responsibilities and Commitments:

As a Recreational Facilitator, you will:

  • Lead engaging activities, such as arts and crafts, mindfulness exercises, and creative expression.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check as part of the onboarding process.
  • Complete Group Facilitation training and general orientation.
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 months (one year or more preferred).
  • Adhere to CMHA's written volunteer policies and procedures.

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum 3.5 hours per week
