Environmental Coordinator
Primary Function:
The primary function is to assist in a way that increases environmental awareness and performance while supporting engagement among clients and project teams.
Environmental Coordinators have related experience, supported by comprehensive training programs, and will facilitate, implement, document, and perform tasks specific to clients and project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as an Environmental Ambassador by assisting with the preparation and implementation of environmental procedures and plans to improve organizational practices and minimize the impact of operations on the environment.
- Participate in the administration of the Environmental Management System, including ongoing monitoring of environmental practices and activities to ensure continuous improvement.
- Exercise interpersonal skills, including leading others and representing the organization; interacting with client representatives, crews, the public, and co-workers; negotiating diplomatically and analyzing situations.
- Report directly to the Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Manager to ensure consistent application of the Environmental Management Program, while also working closely with operations teams. Success in this role requires collaboration with business group leaders, superintendents, and project managers.
- Assist with the environmental permitting process for various projects.
- Support job sites through regular environmental monitoring, including maintaining accurate records, water quality monitoring, sediment sampling, site audits, and providing recommendations and reports as necessary.
- Work safely by understanding and applying company and client policies and procedures, industry practices, and relevant regulations. Monitor emergency preparedness and promote safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Regular working hours are typically based on site activities.
- Work may involve outdoor conditions with regional/seasonal temperature extremes (+/-40°C), exposure to noise, restricted areas, and adverse weather. Physical demands include frequent stair negotiation (up to 43 steps) and responding to emergencies or incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- 3–5 years of experience in environmental services.
