Job Overview
The HACCP Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of The Crump Group Inc.'s HACCP program, food safety programs, Quality Management System, as well as other associated quality programs and functions. This position is also key to assisting with the internal audits to ensure that we are continuously striving to be audit ready.
This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and internal quality standards. The HACCP Coordinator specifically reviews, updates, and maintains all written programs, SOPs, Work Instructions, and HACCP plans to ensure they are current, accurate, both to plant procedures and regulatory requirements through CFIA.
Responsibilities:
- Manages The Crump Group Inc's HACCP Program which includes the maintenance, implementation and verification of food safety and quality programs which includes procedures, documents, processes which align with internal, regulatory, and third-party requirements.
- Maintains food safety and quality program files and ensures that programs are compliant and readily available to all applicable functional groups.
- Conducts annual prerequisite and HACCP plan reassessments as per prescribed schedule.
- Assists in product development tasks such as specification creation/updates as required.
- Assists in the approvals of new ingredients and packaging as required.
- Update of Sanitation and Maintenance Program documents to meet all documentation guidelines
- Ensure compliance with CFIA, HACCP, and The Crump Group Quality Management System program requirements through on-going development, enhancement and verification of the program elements (i.e. FCEP manual, new corporate guidelines, and SQF).
- Assists in all required training: new hire orientation, annual food hygiene training, HACCP refresher, QA Technician, etc.
- Provide training to staff at the manufacturing facility, ensuring support and compliance to HACCP, Quality System and associated programs. This includes quality related training for new employee orientation program.
- Support quality improvement through investigation and resolution of non-conformances due and modifying documentation to reflect improvements. Participate in trouble-shooting quality issues.
- Conducts Compliance Verification System tasks with CFIA Inspector in Charge.
- Assists in supervision of QA Technicians ensuring staff coverage, and task compliance.
- Assists with third-party audits including preparing and coaching line associates and cross-functional management.
- Supports QA Manager as the back-up as required.
- Analyze micro and product analysis data to provide food safety and quality recommendations to management as required for continuous improvement.
- Assists in conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformities and customer complaints.
- Assists in conducting monthly Internal Audits with a cross-functional group identifying any non-conformities.
- Assists in issuing Supplier Non-Conformances as required.
- Supports and drives a strong culture of Food Safety and Quality within company
- Other tasks as required.
Recipe for Success:
- Post-secondary education is required in Food Science or related discipline.
- HACCP Certification required (HACCP I & II courses).
- Internal Auditing Certification or Training required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or HACCP coordination within the food industry.
- Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and food safety software systems.
