We are presently accepting resumes for a Financial Analyst to be responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reporting, financial analysis, budget and forecast preparation for Empower Simcoe.

Compensation package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week;
  • Minimum starting rate of $33.83 per hour; $65,969 annualized;
  • Opportunity to work remotely up to 60% of scheduled hours;
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum Requirements for this position include:

  • Proven successful completion of degree in business/accounting or an accounting diploma with relevant experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities as determined by the employer.
  • Professional accounting designation e.g. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in financial analysis, accounting and reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills combined with ethical judgement
  • Identify and implement accounting best practices within the agency
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Not for Profit Accounting Standards, Financial Software and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computer operations and software applications.

  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required.
  • Ability to deal with conflict using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Ability to anticipate the requirements of a task and initiate steps with little direction.
  • Ability to analyse procedural and system problems and make effective recommendations.
  • Valid drivers' license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Prepare annual budgets and financial forecast in collaboration with Senior Leadership Team
  • Prepare budgets for submission to funders.
  • Prepare and analyse a variety of reports in collaboration with Managers for submission to funders.
  • Maintain the integrity of the financial data by providing guidance and direction to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for the continuous improvement of financial reporting, budgeted and forecasting processes.
  • Provide direction in the development and maintenance of Finance operational guidelines.
  • Liaise with financial software providers regarding enhancements, upgrades, processes, software errors and issues.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other Agency programs and departments to facilitate continuous development of effective financial support.
  • Provide orientation in budget preparation and monitoring for agency Directors, Managers and Supervisors.
  • Review and approve the work of the finance associates prior to posting and/or uploading to financial institutions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislated accounting standards, collective agreements, agency policies and standards of practices.
  • Provide backup for Senior Financial Analysts and other financial duties as required.
