Job Title: Senior Estimator – Residential Construction

Salary: $80,000 – $110,000+ per year DOE

About the company:

A well-established and reputable residential home builder in Calgary is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a key role in ensuring accurate project budgeting, optimizing material and labour costs, and supporting the successful execution of both production and estate home builds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for single-family and multi-family residential projects.
• Analyze construction drawings and specifications to determine material and labour requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams including construction, sales, design, and selections.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and unit cost information.
• Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness.
• Provide costing input during design and value engineering phases.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for upcoming communities and phases.
• Mentor junior estimating staff and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of residential estimating experience, preferably with a production builder in Alberta.
• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and costs.
• Proficiency in estimating software and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
