The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, conducting month-end and year-end closing processes, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial statements and providing analytical support for decision-making.
As a Staff Accountant you will:
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
- Perform and maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner for most asset and liability accounts
- Correspond with other departments to ensure proper accounting for purchases and expenses.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate financial statements delivered by day 2 of each month
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including preparing depreciation and addition/disposal journal entries, year-end roll forwards, and all other fixed asset reporting
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing and prepare related reports: Metrics and other reports, as assigned
- Support other accounting and finance team members, inventory management, cost accounting, accounts payable.
- Archive financial records
- Support year-end annual financial audit by managing due dates and preparing required financial and tax work papers
- Support the preparation of the annual budget and monthly financial forecasts
- Assist the Controller with additional projects and ad hoc analyses as needed
- Back up for the full AP cycle
- Prepare and file tax forms with government agencies
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a university degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CPA Designation, or working towards
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information is required
- 5+ years' experience working within the Accounting/Finance Department
- 3+ years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate to expert Excel skills and exposure to working with large amounts of data
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work
- Self-starter with excellent verbal and communications skills
- Possess strong analytical, critical thinking and judgment skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the company.
- Knowledge and experience in ERP or MRP business system, with JD Edwards experience preferred
- Experience using query writing software/tools is considered an asset
What we offer you:
Typical pay is $59,000.00 to $81,000.00 annually.
