We are seeking a highly experienced, technically advanced, and solutions-driven Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng) to lead the design and execution of complex industrial refrigeration systems. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who brings deep knowledge of thermodynamics, sharp project oversight, and a proactive approach to solving technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time hybrid position open to qualified candidates living in Toronto. The ideal candidate is a licensed P.Eng with significant experience in industrial refrigeration or HVAC, and is confident leading engineering projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering Leadership:
Design and oversee complex refrigeration systems tailored to industrial client needs
Design, review and approve detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and layouts
Ensure systems are energy efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards
Guide component selection, control strategies, and system integration
Technical Oversight & Thermodynamics Expertise:
Apply advanced knowledge of thermodynamics to system performance, efficiency, and safety
Troubleshoot and optimize refrigeration processes and system configurations
Stay current on innovations, safety codes, and evolving regulations affecting system design
Mentor junior engineers in system modeling, design principles, and real-world application
Collaboration:
Work closely with operations to scope and plan engineering work
Attend site visits, review installations, and support commissioning when required
Serve as the technical point of contact for clients
Project Management Support:
Lead engineering portions of project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
Ensure technical deliverables meet project timelines and quality benchmarks
Support documentation, reporting, and change management throughout the project lifecycle
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Technical Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
P.Eng designation (required)
7+ years of experience in mechanical or refrigeration engineering
Expertise in thermodynamics, system modeling, and mechanical system design
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD and analysis tools
Deep understanding of industry standards, safety codes, and engineering best practices
Professional Skills:
Confident communicator with the ability to lead technical discussions and project reviews
Strong project management capabilities and ability to handle shifting priorities
High attention to detail and quality control across engineering deliverables
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across teams
Nice to Have:
Field experience in commissioning or troubleshooting refrigeration systems
Experience working with cold storage, food processing, or other industrial sectors
Knowledge of controls integration and energy optimization strategies

Compensation
$110-120K depending on experience
120 hours paid vacation annually (accrued)
