Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Supervisor, Safety Codes Services position in the Planning & Development Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Development Planning & Safety Codes, the Supervisor, Safety Codes Services oversees the day-to-day operations of the safety codes compliance and inspection services including the supervision of all Safety Codes Officers. The Supervisor, Safety Codes Services ensures compliance monitoring is performed to ensure that buildings and systems comply with the Alberta Building Code, referenced standards and associated regulations for elements of public safety governed under the Safety Codes Act and the requirements of the Safety Codes Council.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
- Post-secondary diploma or trade certificate in a related discipline.
- Meet the prequalification educational and relevant experience requirements for Safety Codes Officers in the building, electrical, plumbing, gas or fire discipline as prescribed by the Alberta Safety Codes Council.
- Completion of certification as a Safety Codes Officer at a top level in one or more of the following disciplines: Building, Electrical, Gas, Plumbing, or Fire.
- A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience conducting safety codes inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial services with sound knowledge of safety codes disciplines, development planning processes and requirements, and the relationship with safety codes.
- A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in a leadership capacity in the safety codes field.
- Written and verbal communication in terminology that can be readily understood by the applicants based on their level of industry knowledge and a strong focus on customer service.
- Professional self-motivated and the ability to work in a team environment, along with excellent coordination, work scheduling and time management skills.
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
A starting annual salary of $109,500 to $118,500 with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $138,500, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
