About the Opportunity:

With a high-performing legal team handling complex infrastructure, procurement, and dispute matters, they're seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide integral support to lawyers involved in high-value legal work within the construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Legal Support
- Prepare, format, proofread, and manage legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and correspondence.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic legal files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Scheduling & Communication
- Coordinate calendars, court dates, meetings, arbitration hearings, and travel arrangements for lawyers.
- Liaise with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and expert witnesses to facilitate seamless file progression and communication.
Court and Filing Duties
- File documents with Ontario Courts using Caselines, Justice Services Online (JSO), and other e-filing tools.
- Assist with service of documents, docket entry, and time tracking for billing purposes.
Research & Drafting Support
- Support litigation processes, including organizing disclosure, preparing brief materials, and managing limitation dates.
- Conduct basic legal research and draft client correspondence as needed.
Qualifications:
- Legal Assistant Diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
- 3+ years of experience supporting a litigation practice (experience in construction law or commercial litigation preferred).
- Excellent working knowledge of court procedures, Rules of Civil Procedure, and legal documentation requirements in Ontario.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, document management systems (e.g., PCLaw, Worldox, Primafact), and court e-filing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
