Chief Engineer, Process Control Systems
We are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Chief Engineer, Process Control Systems to lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of process control strategies at a high-performance mining operation. This role is pivotal in helping the plant meet production and efficiency goals for copper and molybdenum processing while fostering a strong safety and innovation culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians focused on process control.
- Design and implement control strategies that improve recovery, throughput, and concentrate grade.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and support teams to optimize performance across crushing, grinding, and flotation circuits.
- Oversee daily performance monitoring and analysis; identify deviations and drive corrective actions.
- Drive real-time optimization using advanced process control technologies and data science techniques.
- Manage capital projects and draft proposals for process improvements related to quality, cost, and safety.
- Maintain and evolve infrastructure for control systems, including regulatory and advanced applications.
- Provide mentorship and leadership, supporting technical growth within the team.
- Engage and manage external consultants and suppliers to ensure project safety and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years' experience with real-time optimization in mineral or metallurgical processing.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or technical leadership role.
- Experience with PLC/DCS systems, HMI, instrumentation, and industrial communications (e.g., OPC).
- Knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, and HAZOPs.
- Familiarity with advanced control systems (e.g., model predictive control, expert systems) and data analytics tools.
- Strong skills in documenting and visualizing technical findings and recommendations.
- Eligible for Professional Engineer registration in British Columbia (APEGBC).
- Valid driver's license required.
