Job Title: Systems Testing/QA Specialist – Intermediate

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Testing/QA Specialist to support a high-impact public sector initiative. This hybrid role, based in Toronto, is ideal for a QA professional with a strong background in manual testing, experience with non-functional requirements, and a collaborative approach to Agile delivery.
You will play a key role in ensuring software quality across commercial off-the-shelf (COTS/SaaS) and custom systems by working closely with business analysts, developers, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute manual test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices
- Design and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium or Appium
- Perform functional, integration, regression, accessibility, and non-functional testing
- Collaborate with Agile teams during sprint reviews, defect triage, and UAT cycles
- Test both frontend and backend system components
- Support quality assurance of failover, performance, data integrity, and security
- Record and manage defects using Jira and facilitate regular defect review sessions
- Contribute to planning of test data and post-release testing
- Communicate progress and risks in daily stand-ups and weekly status reports
Must-Have Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing manual test cases, test scripts, and test data
- Strong experience creating traceability matrices linked to business requirements
- Proven experience with technical test strategies and plans
- Solid understanding of non-functional testing including security, performance, and failover
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with Jira, SharePoint, .NET Web, HTML, and JavaScript
Nice-to-Haves
- 2+ years of automation testing experience using Selenium, Appium, or similar tools
- Experience with API testing using Postman or SoapUI
- Previous experience with public sector or Ontario Public Service projects
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance testing
