Status: Temporary, Full-time (Start: June 2025; End of Contract: Jan. 31, 2026)

Hourly Wage: $25.00/hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Location: Head Office - 293 E. 11th Avenue, Vancouver, BC

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications & Community Development this position is responsible for assisting the communications department within Coast Head Office. This is a professional role performing a variety of complex and confidential communication functions.

Fundamental Principles

  • Ensures that responsibilities are managed and operated in accordance with Coast's Mission, Vision, Values, Policies and Procedures.
  • Strives toward achieving Best Practice Standards and continuous improvement for area of responsibility.

Communication

  • Create the graphic design for print and electronic publication and distribution (logos, invitations, newsletters, etc), as well as maintenance and development of Coast websites.
  • Coordinate creation of a visual design and theme for the intranet Conduct research to understand intranet user needs Lead efforts to create and maintain a sound site navigation
  • Manage the homepage to maintain a proper balance of content and tools Oversee authoring and proper use of online channels for official company news
  • Manage projects to deliver intranet content or tools to mobile devices
  • Lead projects to improve sections of the intranet or deliver new tools through the intranet Monitor user-generated content for appropriateness

Communications Support

  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.
  • Comfortable using digital platforms:
  • Customized intranet, Wordpress website, Hootsuite, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Analytics
  • Experience with graphic design and layout to support in-house content development using Adobe Creative
  • Expertise in website content development Abilities in interviewing, photography, video production and editing to support storytelling campaigns
  • Experience with populating and managing social media calendar and weekly posts

Education:

  • Recent graduate with Communications or Journalism diploma/degree.
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee status has been conferred, and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Active Social Insurance Number
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • WHMIS Certification

Knowledge/Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to demonstrate tact and confidentiality
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service - building and maintaining rapport and respectful relationships with clients with mental illness- and to work effectively with external stakeholders (partners / suppliers) and internal team members across the organization
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as web and design software (such as Adobe Creative)
  • Strong interest in learning best practices and processes within a communications department
  • Excellent listening, verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of complex projects ; ability to determine priorities and balance work flow, balancing changing workload expectations and frequent interruptions
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated initiative to analyze and resolve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination and implementation
