Job Overview
The Network Administrator is responsible for the overall health, operation, and implementation of networks, including LAN/WAN, voice, branch, wireless, and security networks.

Role

Strategy & Planning
•Collaborate with Systems Architect, IT Security to implement optimal network design topologies and configurations.
•Aid in testing business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintaining current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with these plans.

Acquisition & Deployment
•Support the development and implementation of networking projects and new technology installations.
•Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend networking hardware and software products for purchase.
•Write technical specifications for the purchase of networking hardware and software products.

Operational Management
•Support existing infrastructure, monitor, and remediate issues for various networking manufacturers, such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Citrix, VMware, etc.
•Communicate and collaborate with Project Managers, Security, technical resources, and third parties to coordinate ongoing support needs.
•Follow strict change control and internal process requirements.
•Prepare and ensure the accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, asset databases, and help sheets for network installations, including data and voice deployments.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
•Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or Technology with a focus on computer networking.
•Three to five (3-5) years of network administration experience, supporting LAN/WAN technologies, data transmission protocols, network security, Ethernet, BGP, DNS, TCP/IP, IPsec, NAT, Fiber, Wi-Fi, VoIP.
•Networking accreditation (Cisco CCNA or CCNP) is preferred.
•Cisco Meraki certification is an asset.
•Azure networking concepts and technologies is considered an asset.
•Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience with working technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards, including BGP, MPLS, 802.11x.
•Working experience with network access control technologies.
•Experience working with Tier 1 telecom partners, firewalls, load balancers, VMware virtual networking, VPN appliances, Aruba Wireless, ITIL, and Cisco ACI is considered an asset.
•Ability to operate network component analyzers, scanners, and testers.
•Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
•Strong communication skills (oral and written) and excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
•Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
•Awareness of and ability to mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and company policies and procedures.
•Valid driver's license and means of transportation.
•Flexibility to work on-call and travel as required.
•Willingness to work beyond core business hours/on-call, if necessary, to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned network/system modifications.
