Senior IT Build Analyst – Database Engineering (Oracle/SQL/MongoDB DBA)

Overview:

A leading financial services company is seeking a Senior IT Build Analyst (Database Engineering) with deep expertise in Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB. This is a critical role within the Global Infrastructure group, responsible for delivering engineered solutions, ensuring operational excellence, and enabling secure, scalable database platforms to support high-performance trading, analytics, and business-critical systems.

About the Department:

The Global Infrastructure team provides engineered solutions and advanced support to enable agility, reliability, and innovation across the enterprise. This role supports diverse environments and technologies, collaborating closely with architecture, security, operations, and audit teams to meet business demands with precision and compliance.

Key Accountabilities:

Operational Excellence & Support

• Administer, optimize, and monitor Oracle (12c/19c), SQL Server (2012/2016/2019), and MongoDB environments.
• Provide Level 3 production support and participate in on-call rotation.
• Implement robust performance tuning, patching, monitoring, and backup strategies.
• Ensure security, compliance, and change management processes are followed.

Project Execution

• Engineer and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and project goals.
• Collaborate with application and dev teams on schema design, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Support cloud and on-prem environments (VMs, Azure, GCP, AWS EC2).

NoSQL/MongoDB Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage MongoDB including replica sets and Operations Manager.
• Optimize transactional volume and data flow to meet performance SLAs.
• Drive improvements and automation using best practices in NoSQL and distributed database design.
• Provide disaster recovery planning and implementation support.

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Database Expertise

• 7+ years of Oracle/Oracle RAC database administration experience.
• 7+ years with SQL Server (2012–2019).
• 3+ years MongoDB experience, including deployment and performance tuning.
• Strong query optimization in both SQL and NoSQL.
• Certified MongoDB DBA is a strong asset.

Technical Skills

• Strong grasp of replica set configuration and distributed database management.
• Experience deploying MongoDB on VMs, GCP, AWS.
• Skilled in backup strategies and disaster recovery for MongoDB in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Automation (e.g., Ansible), Azure, VMware, OCAC, and GCP.
• Experience managing 100+ database servers in an enterprise setting.
• Working knowledge of IP networking, storage subsystems, and ITIL processes.

Education & Certification:

• Industry certifications in Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, or cloud platforms are a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Financial services IT experience.
• Exposure to non-database HA/DR solutions (e.g., HACMP, VCS, TrueCopy).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD environments.
