Project Manager –Business Regulatory Initiatives (Banking)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)3 days from office

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and support a key regulatory initiative for one of Canada's leading financial institutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing end-to-end project delivery while working closely with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from planning to execution for regulatory and compliance-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and ensure regulatory expectations are met.
  • Partner with legal, risk, compliance, and technology teams to interpret regulatory mandates and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports; track progress against key milestones and deliverables.
  • Facilitate working group sessions, status meetings, and steering committee updates to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Identify project risks and issues early; implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with internal governance frameworks and audit standards.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in alignment with regulatory deadlines and business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of project management experience, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven track record delivering regulatory or compliance-related projects (e.g., Basel, OSFI, FATCA, AML, ESG, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, retail banking, or enterprise risk management is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certification is preferred.
