Project Manager –Business Regulatory Initiatives (Banking)

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and support a key regulatory initiative for one of Canada's leading financial institutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing end-to-end project delivery while working closely with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full project lifecycle from planning to execution for regulatory and compliance-related initiatives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and ensure regulatory expectations are met.
- Partner with legal, risk, compliance, and technology teams to interpret regulatory mandates and translate them into actionable plans.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports; track progress against key milestones and deliverables.
- Facilitate working group sessions, status meetings, and steering committee updates to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Identify project risks and issues early; implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with internal governance frameworks and audit standards.
- Ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in alignment with regulatory deadlines and business objectives.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of project management experience, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven track record delivering regulatory or compliance-related projects (e.g., Basel, OSFI, FATCA, AML, ESG, etc.).
- Strong understanding of capital markets, retail banking, or enterprise risk management is a plus.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).
- PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certification is preferred.
