Job Title: Tableau Administrator
Capgemini is hiring a Tableau Administrator works 3 days in office in Mississauga or Union Station.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Tableau Administrator to manage and maintain our organization's Tableau Server environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, security, and scalability of our Tableau platform. You will work closely with data analysts, developers, and business users to optimize their Tableau experience and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of Tableau Server architecture, administration best practices, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Tableau Server Management: Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain the Tableau Server environment (including distributed environments if applicable).
- User and Security Management: Create and manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and site roles within Tableau Server, ensuring appropriate access control and data security.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal speed and efficiency of Tableau dashboards and extracts.
- Content Management: Establish and enforce standards for publishing, organizing, and managing Tableau workbooks, data sources, and projects.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for the Tableau Server environment to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support to Tableau users, diagnose and resolve issues related to server access, performance, and functionality.
- System Administration: Manage server resources, disk space, and other system-related configurations.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and implement scripts (e.g., using Tabcmd or Tableau Server Client (TSC) API) to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective Tableau solutions. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Tableau Server configuration, processes, and best practices.
Required Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Tableau Server architecture and components.
- Proven experience in installing, configuring, and administering Tableau Server (single and multi-node environments).
- Proficiency in user and security management within Tableau Server, including permissions, roles, and authentication methods.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Tableau Server and workbooks.
- Solid understanding of data connectivity and data source management within Tableau.
- Experience with backup and recovery procedures for Tableau Server.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to Tableau Server issues.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Server or Linux) and server administration concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and Tableau's command-line utility (Tabcmd) or Tableau Server Client (TSC) API.
- Tableau Certified Associate Consultant or Tableau Certified Professional.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in administering and supporting Tableau Server environments.
- Proficiency with Data Visualization Tools: Familiarity with tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or open-source libraries like D3.js and Plotly.
- Strong Data Analysis Skills: Understanding of data analysis, data models, and ability to translate raw data into meaningful insights.
- Design Thinking: Ability to create visually appealing and user-centric designs that effectively communicate data.
- Programming Skills: Knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or R for custom visualizations or data manipulation.
