Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quality Assurance Specialist / Auditor at Newton Industries Ltd. in Langley, BC. We are seeking a detail-oriented QC Technician / Auditor to support our high-mix, custom plastic injection molding operations. This role is critical in ensuring part conformity, maintaining documentation integrity, leading root cause investigations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on inspection experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspection & Auditing

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final part inspections per customer and internal specifications
  • Validate material certifications and approve parts for shipment
  • Conduct audits on molding setups, machine parameters, and fixture calibrations
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality plans, and work instructions

2. Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate and maintain inspection records, quality reports, and trend analysis charts
  • Manage NCRs and document non-conformances accurately
  • Assist in preparing dashboards and visual tracking tools for the production floor

3. Root Cause Analysis & CAPA

  • Lead structured root cause investigations (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and verify corrective/preventive actions
  • Follow up to ensure long-term effectiveness of CAPAs

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training

  • Partner with Production, Toolroom, and Engineering to resolve quality and mold-related issues
  • Provide feedback on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) for new and existing parts
  • Train operators in basic quality checks and visual defect identification
  • Promote a quality-first culture through positive mentorship on the shop floor

Minimum Qualifications:

•Diploma or Certificate in Quality Assurance, Plastics Technology, or related field

•Minimum 2 years of QC experience in a plastic injection molding environment

•Proficiency with inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges)

•Working knowledge of quality tools: 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA

Required Skills:

•Technical:

Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, basic data visualization)

Experience with document control and audit compliance

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

•Soft Skills:

Effective communicator – verbal and written (technical reporting)

Team leadership in root cause and CAPA activities

Ability to work with and train a culturally diverse workforce

High attention to detail, with urgency and accountability in quality matters
