Looking for all levels of Electricians from Apprentice to Journeyman!
Location: Camp in Fort McMurray
Schedule: 10 days on 4 off with flight hubs from Edmonton or Calgary
Job Brief:
The Electrical Technician will work collaboratively with a team of skilled Journeyman Electricians and fellow apprentices to ensure the successful installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This role encompasses hands-on learning for apprentices while utilizing advanced skills and knowledge for journeymen to oversee projects effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Apprentice -
- Reads and interprets electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications.
- Pulls wire through conduits, holes, and splice, join, and connect wire to form circuits.
- Assists with installing, replacing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems/equipment.
- Tests circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
- Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
- Provides on-call support as required
Journeyman -
- Completes QA/QC redlines for as-built construction drawings.
- Reads and interprets schematics and drawings related to electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications.
- Repairs and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); removes and replaces defective parts.
- Pulls wire through conduits, holes, and splice, join, and/or connect wire to form circuits.
- Tests circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
- Completes daily field work orders and maintains hours worked and equipment used.
- Completes inventory transfers and provides monthly warehouse inventory reports.
- Senior Journeyman will complete on the job training documents for Junior Technicians.
- Mentors/trains electrical apprentices.
- Provides on-call support as required.
- Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Registered Apprentice status preferred for apprentices; Journeyman or interprovincial Red Seal Certificate in electrical.
- Technical training or experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Experience using pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) drawings.
- Ability to work long hours and participate in on-call schedule as required.
- Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS.
- Experience in oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
- Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
