Freeman Herbs is looking for an IPM Technician who is responsible for maintaining healthy, pest-free crops at Freeman Herbs. This role involves leading the IPM team to achieve low pest counts and ensuring the effective implementation of preventative measures for pest and disease control.

What You Will Do:

  • Create an overall plan for Greenhouse IPM and guide the IPM team on the IPM program.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of all pesticides, including appropriate product selection for various situations, and provides guidance to growers on proper usage and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate with the IPM team to implement and complete weekly and daily beneficial insect plans.
  • Coordinate and organize IPM materials, including greenhouse spraying equipment and chemicals.
  • Design the overall IPM program and oversee its effective implementation.
  • Complete all pesticide paperwork, including safety and tracking information.
  • Work closely with the receiving and purchasing departments to inspect all incoming beneficials, ensuring they meet quality standards, and monitor storage conditions including temperature and humidity.
  • Apply biological controls and collaborate with Growers by providing recommendations for biological product purchases.
  • Attend and participate in grower's meetings, to improve our IPM program.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and organization of all scouting and protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Maintain inventory of spray room, ensuring all products are satisfactory.
  • Maintain a clean and temperature-controlled spray room, ensuring all products are properly organized and clearly labeled.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Skills Required:

  • Horticulture college diploma or a bachelor's in science degree required
  • Valid Pesticide/Spray license.
  • Previous greenhouse and/or IPM experience required.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Knowledge in common greenhouse pests.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
  • Proficient in adhering to safety protocols and identifying potential hazards.
  • Capable of building and sustaining positive working relationships with team members.
  • Available to work rotating weekends for watering.
