Service Overview:Cloud Accounting: AMLB takes the stress out of managing clients' day-to-day finances by providing a comprehensive cloud bookkeeping solution. From a digitized receipt capture solution to maintaining up-to-date financial records, they handle the clients' bookkeeping tasks efficiently and accurately. They also simplify accounts receivable and payable workflows by setting up and managing user-friendly AP/AR systems through tools like Plooto and Stripe to deliver a seamless, cloud-based solution for managing all incoming and outgoing payments.Tax Planning & Preparation: AMLB offers comprehensive tax support, including the preparation and filing of T2 corporate tax returns, GST/HST filings, financial statement management, and strategic tax planning. AMLB also provides T1 tax filing for owner-managers and audit support for CRA reviews, ensuring peace of mind and compliance throughout the year.Payroll: AMLBs cloud-based payroll solutions enable clients to securely process payroll anytime, from anywhere. With WagePoint at the core, they manage direct deposits, T4 slips, tax remittances, and real-time updates, while leveraging collaborative tools to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and insight-driven payroll management.CFO Advisory: Through virtual CFO services, AMLB delivers strategic financial guidance tailored to the needs of growing businesses. This role is crafted not only as a pillar of leadership but as a channel through which AMLB aims to redefine financial management and accounting services for a diverse portfolio of high-growth clients. Working closely with the Co-Founders (Ally Ladha & Moez Bawania) and reporting to Moez, the Manager, Cloud Finance Services will lead, coach, and inspire a team of cloud finance professionals while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and fun culture. The Manager will oversee the provision of high-quality and timely cloud finance services to clients while applying leading-edge innovative capabilities such as cloud technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to simplify, automate, and enhance work processes and outputs where possible. You will also be a key contributor to AMLB's strategic planning, with an opportunity to lead initiatives to elevate the client and team member experience. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial and operationally oriented accounting leader with experience managing and mentoring a team and a proven record working with a diverse group of early-stage and/or mid-sized organizations experiencing significant growth and change. THE PRIORITIES The Manager, Cloud Finance Services will have the following key priorities: People Leadership: You will lead a growing team of up to 10 remote finance professionals Bookkeeping Specialists and Cloud Accountantsowning the full people management lifecycle. This includes capacity forecasting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff in collaboration with AMLBs HR team. You will also deliver ongoing technical and non-technical training to improve the teams service quality and communication. As a leadership team member, you will contribute to the broader business culture and strategy, cultivating a collaborative, high-performance environment.Client Management: You will oversee a portfolio of growth-oriented clients in a wide range of industries across Canada, ensuring that deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with client expectations. While you wont be responsible for initial onboarding in your first 90 days, you will be copied on all client communication and expected to monitor for quality and risk, including ad-hoc advisory needs. You will review year-end trial balances and working papers before theyre handed off to the tax team, and work closely with the Payroll Lead to resolve any payroll-related issues raised by clients. Scope and billing conversations remain the responsibility of the Co-Founders, but you will flag potential changes proactively.Process Improvement: You will collaborate closely with AMLBs Technology & Operations Specialist to enhance internal client service processes. Your mandate includes identifying operational inefficiencies, improving workflow systems, supporting the business QA program (without performing the actual monthly/quarterly bookkeeping reviews), and ensuring your team follows standardized, high-quality practices. This includes utilizing AI to improve the quality and efficiency of client service delivery and drive sustainable growth without taking on tasks that belong to the bookkeeping or tax teams.Business Operations and Strategic Leadership: As a key member of the leadership team, you will work directly with the Co-Founders and help shape business-wide decisions around business operations, hiring strategy, and culture. Your insights will contribute to capacity planning, resourcing decisions, and the overall evolution of the Cloud Finance Services function. AMLB actively supports innovation, and you will be empowered to explore and implement AI-driven solutions, such as using ChatGPT Plusto improve both client service delivery and internal efficiency. CORE RESPONSIBILITIESLead and manage a remote team of finance professionals (up to 10 Bookkeeping Specialists and Cloud Accountants), including participating in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and capacity planning in coordination with AMLBs HR function.Oversee client service delivery for a growing portfolio of growth-oriented clients in a wide range of industries across Canada, ensuring timely and high-quality execution of recurring deliverables such as monthly/quarterly management reports, sales invoicing, vendor payments, payroll coordination, and HST filings.Review year-end trial balances and supporting working papers to ensure accuracy and completeness before handing them off to AMLBs Tax Specialists, who prepare financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns.Monitor and elevate the quality and timeliness of client communication by being copied on all client emails, identifying potential gaps, and coaching team members on service excellence. Youll also proactively flag any indications of scope expansion to the Co-Founders for pricing review.Resolve payroll-related issues by liaising with AMLBs dedicated Payroll Lead and clients as needed. While payroll execution is out of scope for this role, ensuring satisfactory resolution of issues remains within your responsibility.Support and participate in client advisory work, including leading ad hoc financial projects or light-touch CFO-level advice, particularly when operational or financial challenges arise for clients that are outside the current service scope.Partner with AMLBs Tech & Operations Specialist to identify, recommend, and help implement process improvements in client service workflows, internal documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Champion AI adoption within the team, with access to tools like ChatGPT Plus and support for ongoing AI learning. Youll be encouraged to test and apply AI solutions that improve internal efficiency and elevate client service delivery.Deliver training and mentoring to your team on both technical and non-technical topics to enhance performance, drive consistency, and encourage continuous learning.Provide leadership input into internal planning, including hiring strategies and resourcing decisions, and collaborate closely with the two Co-Founders to shape broader business strategy, people practices, and business culture. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting operations leader with a strong track record managing people, processes, and clients in a fast-paced, cloud-based environment. They are entrepreneurial, strategic, and energized by leading high-performing teams while staying close to day-to-day operations and client needs.Experience & Background: At least 57 years of experience in a multi-client accounting environment, ideally within a cloud accounting business or virtual CFO practice. Direct experience managing bookkeeping and accounting teams who support multiple clients simultaneously is essential, with comfort leading diverse portfolios of early-stage or high-growth organizations across various sectors. Exposure to client advisory work is a strong asset.Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and mentor remote teams of accounting professionals, including hiring, onboarding, performance coaching, and delivering technical and soft-skills training. Experience in capacity forecasting and resource planning is important. A collaborative and inclusive leadership style is essential.Client-Facing Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships concurrently, focusing on communication quality, deliverable oversight, and service consistency. Able to spot client dissatisfaction or scope creep early and flag for escalation. Comfort representing the business at a senior level in client interactions, including ad-hoc advisory engagements.Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with cloud-based accounting tools and platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext, WagePoint). Comfortable working in a remote, tech-enabled environment, with an ability to adapt processes using digital tools. Prior exposure to payroll oversight or coordination is a plus, though execution is not required.AI and Innovation Orientation: Curious and future-forward, with a desire to explore how tools like ChatGPT can enhance service delivery, internal workflows, and client outcomes. Eager to engage in continuous learning and support AMLBs commitment to embedding AI thoughtfully into operations.Communication & Judgement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial and operational concepts. Able to work closely with the Co-Founders and senior leadership to influence strategy, culture, and performance across the business. Demonstrates good judgment, discretion, and a high level of professionalism.Education & Credentials: A recognized accounting designation (CPA preferred) or equivalent experience.
