Account Director / Senior Account Director Beauty
Role OverviewReporting to the President, the Account Director (AD) or Senior Account Director (SAD) will lead strategic oversight and day-to-day management of two cornerstone clients in the cosmetics and skincare verticals. With a strong focus on growth and client retention, the ideal candidate combines sharp strategic thinking, creative vision, and a commercial mindset. This role demands deep expertise in integrated communications, an innate understanding of the beauty industry, and strong leadership and mentorship skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesClient Strategy & Account Leadership- Strategic Direction: Serve as the senior lead across accounts, offering expert counsel and long-term planning that aligns with brand and business goals.
- Integrated Planning: Develop and oversee 360 communications strategies across PR, digital, social, influencer, and experiential platforms.
- Relationship Management: Act as a trusted partner to clientsproactive, solution-oriented, and always one step ahead of their needs.
- Creative Oversight: Drive the development of disruptive, compelling narratives, pitches, press materials, and campaigns that push creative boundaries.
- Project Management: Lead program execution from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery, budget alignment, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Insights & Reporting: Provide thoughtful, data-driven reporting and recommendations that demonstrate campaign effectiveness and ROI.
- Mentorship: Motivate and develop junior team members through feedback, coaching, and structured growth plans.
- Performance Oversight: Manage direct reports, conduct regular reviews, and champion professional development.
- Resource Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to optimize staffing, workflows, and account profitability.
- Talent Acquisition: Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new hires.
- Revenue Growth: Identify upsell opportunities within existing accounts and contribute to agency revenue goals.
- New Business: Lead or support new business pitches, contributing strategic insights and presentation expertise.
- Thought Leadership: Represent the agency at industry events, awards, and panels to elevate visibility and reputation.
- Onboarding & Retention: Lead seamless onboarding of new clients and implement proactive retention strategies.
- Innovation: Constantly explore and introduce new ideas, tools, and trends to add value to client programs.
- Trend Expertise: Stay on the pulse of beauty, consumer behavior, influencer culture, and media landscapes in Canada.
- Experience: 57+ years in a PR/communications agency, with direct experience in the beauty, skincare, or CPG sectors. Tier 1/Tier 2 brand experience is an asset.
- Leadership: Proven track record in leading high-performing teams, with a motivational leadership style.
- Strategic Thinking: Adept at translating business goals into actionable, results-driven communications strategies.
- Beauty Industry Expertise: Deep and current connections with Canadian beauty editors, journalists, and influencers are essential.
- Canadian Market Expertise: Knowledge of key cities, shopper demographics and understanding of the beauty retail landscape.
- Communication: Exceptional writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
- Analytical Acumen: Strong understanding of measurement, reporting, and ROI in communications and marketing.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage complex information with accuracy, clarity, and speed.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Availability to support client events and launches outside standard business hours.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25 lbs as part of event support.
- Participation in occasional research and administrative tasks as required.
