Job Description

Our client is seeking a Data Analyst for a four-month contract with a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite) in Burnaby to support the organization's contract negotiations and proposal development efforts. This contract position will involve close collaboration with the internal negotiation team and require data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to the organization, identifying trends and presenting evidence-based recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Conduct evidence reviews and assist with environmental scans, translating findings into accessible products for target audiences.
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to support decision-making, utilizing tools such as Excel, SQL, R, or Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and presentations that effectively communicate data to internal staff teams and external partners.
  • Define measurement strategies to assess the performance of programs using key performance indicators and forecasting tools.
  • Analyze internal and external datasets to inform contract negotiations, identifying trends, benchmarks, and data-driven opportunities or risks.
  • Support proposal development by providing accurate data, visualizations, and summaries.
  • Develop and enhance data collection protocols and workflows to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze relevant data while maintaining data collection systems, including databases and spreadsheets.
  • Monitor data quality and assess validity, providing expert assistance on data cleaning and preprocessing.
  • Translate technical findings into accessible insights for non-technical audiences and collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand data needs.
  • Participate in regular check-ins or planning meetings as required.

Deliverables

  • Monthly progress reports summarizing key findings, trends, and activities.
  • Data visualizations and charts to support negotiation and proposal materials.
  • Final summary report synthesizing all data work and recommendations at the end of the contract.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within a healthcare, non-profit, or public policy environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting contract negotiations and proposal development considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of British Columbia's healthcare system or midwifery profession is a bonus but not required.
