JOB SUMMARY:
The Water & Sanitation Maintenance Worker shall report to the Water & Sanitation Manager and assist the water and sanitation programs with field work and maintenance, research and outreach on water and sanitation in the community.
In support of Sagamok Anishinabek goal of providing quality management, the Water & Sanitation Maintenance worker shall continuously strive to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with other departments to provide quality services to its membership. The Water & Sanitation Maintenance Worker shall perform assignments in accordance with professional and federal laws.
POSITION DUTIES:
Compile test result information into reports and/or database
Assist with sanitation needs when required
Design and implement survey tools for compiling information on water and sanitation, locate Curb-Stops and corporate mains and identify them using GPS
In-put Curb-Stop Data/drawings on designated Microsoft Excel file
Water quality monitoring and shadowing Water Operators
Read flow meter gauges and other recording instruments to measure water output and consumption levels, bacteria content, turbidity and chlorine levels
Daily record volume readings at pump houses with operators
Development and delivery of educational materials to increase public awareness and knowledge regarding water consumption
Improve safe drinking water for private well owners
Hydrants painting
Grass cutting around pump-houses, water tower and around hydrants
Participate in various associations and organizations to learn new practices and trends, to remain informed of current affairs and issues affecting the programs and to enhance personal growth
Attend and participate in regular Planning & Infrastructure team meetings
Participate in regular supervision and performance evaluations
Prepare monthly activity and statistical reports for submission to the Water and Sanitation Manager
Alert the Manager of problems in a timely fashion so that appropriate action can be taken
Participate in health and safety training that occurs on a regular basis (WHMIS, transportation of dangerous goods, confined space, CPR and first aid)
Perform other duties as required

Employment:
1. Must demonstrate enrollment as a full-time student in the previous academic semester school year and be returning full time in the fall of 2025/2026 Academic school year
2. Must be eligible for Sagamok Anishinabek ISETP program funding (member of Sagamok, valid SIN #)
3. Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHMIS, & Health and Safety in 4 Steps
QUALIFICATIONS:
Full time Grade 12 and/or Post Secondary students
Able to use Microsoft office Software
Must possess excellent organization skills
Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
Must be dependable and work with little supervision
Must be able to operate small machinery such as weed whips
Valid G2 drivers license would be an asset
