Your role at GEI. The successful candidate, under the direction of a senior engineer, will be responsible for the engineering analysis and design for a variety of municipal servicing, Sewage Pump Station facilities, Pump Stations, and linear infrastructure. Flexibility exists in terms of the role and the experience level, and a civil engineering background with experience in municipal process piping and infrastructure planning (servicing studies) is considered a strong asset. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Develop civil, process, and mechanical engineering design for municipal linear infrastructure including sewage pump stations, pump stations, watermains, sanitary sewer, forcemains, storm sewer, outfalls and roads.
  • Design site civil design including grading, yard piping.
  • Lead proposal effort and actively manage projects including scheduling and budget control.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines including structural, Electrical, Instrumentational & Control
  • Support the permitting and approvals processes.
  • Support construction phase efforts and provide contract administration support.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs reports.
  • Apply design standards including the MECP and local development standards.
  • Coordinate with utility agencies to support projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of tender packages and construction cost estimates.
  • Work with the Infrastructure Planning team to complete Area Servicing Plans in support of Secondary Plans, Block Plans and other large-scale development areas;
  • Assisting with delivery of other civil projects supporting our Land Development, Structural, Linear or Water/Wastewater design teams, as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Permitted to practice license with good standing from Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in engineering.
  • Experience preparing feasibility, conceptual/preliminary and detailed designs for facility and linear water and wastewater infrastructure, is considered an asset;
  • Experience preparing engineering reports (design reports, feasibility study, capital needs assessments, stormwater management, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, oral, written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability objectively to evaluate problems and opportunities.
  • Experience with CAD (Civil 3D/MicroStation/etc.) and/or GIS (ArcMap/QGIS/etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Motivation continuously to learn, broaden experience and to enhance engineering knowledge and qualifications.
