Physical Wellness Worker Assistant Community and Family Support Services Department
JOB SUMMARY:
The Physical Wellness Worker assistant will work collaboratively as a team member to engage children, youth, adults and the community in the promotion of physical wellness and will plan the delivery of physical and recreational programming; facilitate a range of evidence based primary and secondary prevention programs and strategies to address risk factors, protective factors, and resiliency; and coordinate and/or facilitate activities and programs that promotes physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness considerations. The purposes of the programs are to improve access to physical health activities to improve knowledge of the role of physical and recreational activity in maintaining health and wellness performance.
POSITION DUTIES:
Assist in engaging community children, youth, and adults in the process of taking control over their own physical and leisure wellness
Assist in motivating and build the capacity of individuals and community to take greater control over their own wellness
Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of community based and culturally appropriate campaigns to promote physical health and well being
Implement social marketing strategies to promote wellness, programs/services and recruit participants
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Must demonstrate enrollment as a full-time student in the previous academic school year and be returning full time in the fall of 2025/2026 academic school year
2. Must be eligible for Sagamok Anishnawbek ISETP program funding (member of Sagamok, valid SIN)
3. Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHMIS, & Health and safety in 4 steps
QUALIFICATIONS:
Priority will be given to post-secondary students within the health, fitness, recreational leadership or human services fields
Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email softwares
Able to work with minimum supervision
Must be able to be physically active on a regular basis
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Valid drivers license for on the job use
